About This Life

Who we are

Austin S. Huber and Ethan P. Usher both made their rounds in literature as children, reading young adult fiction or, in Austin’s case, having an obsession with Calvin and Hobbes. Unfortunately, as children they both made for bleak observers of what books can actually do. When they found each other as early teenagers, they began crafting small stories, no better than fanfiction or clear nods to Lord of the Rings, yet they carried on this hobby until they realized that they had a substantial story in the mix. Austin began writing down the details of the story and world in notebooks, and Ethan spent his time writing words, poems, and short stories which will never be released, until both decided they should attempt to publish one of these stories. In college now, they have not a single published work other than small poems in literary magazines. But the unpublished works they have melding together, stewing like a foundry of metal and carrots, amount to what will be several full-length novels, collections of poems, experimental books and more.

Austin wants it to be known that their first novel is expected to be complete and ready for beta-reading in early 2020.

Ethan wants it to be known that the idea to put their middle initials in both of their pen names (i.e., Ethan P. Usher) was Austin’s idea, not his.
